peyton manning mvpPeyton Manning continues to build on his Hall of Fame career. On Saturday it was announced that the Denver Broncos legendary quarterback had won his record 5th AP NFL Offensive MVP Award, adding to the four MVP awards he won while playing for Indianapolis Colts.

This season Manning won in a landslide, earning 49 of the possible 50 first place votes after shattering the record for touchdown passes in a season with 55 and throwing for a record 5,477 yards while leading the Broncos to the AFC’s best record and a Super Bowl appearance.

“I am humbled by this recognition and grateful to my family, Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen, John Elway, John Fox and the entire Denver Broncos organization, and of course, my coaches and my teammates,” Manning said in a prepared video acceptance speech. Because he was not able to be on hand to accept the award due to the fact that he was preparing for the Super Bowl the following day, Manning closed by saying, “Now, I sent a couple of guys over there tonight to pick up the trophy on my behalf: my father Archie and my son Marshall. Thank you very much and God Bless you.”

The five-time MVP has enjoyed one of the greatest careers ever put together by a quarterback in the NFL. His resume includes 13 Pro-Bowl selections, 7 First-Team All-Pro selections, three AFC Championship rings, and one Super Bowl ring. Already a member of the NFL 2000’s All-Decade team, everything Manning does from here on out only adds to a resume that will no doubt land him in the Professional Football Hall of Fame one day.
