Cam Newton Colin KaepernickNFL star quarterbacks Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick teamed up to host the Cartoon Network Hall of Fame Game Awards on Monday, February 17. The third edition of the award show, which honors athletes, professional and amateur, and other aspects of sports each year, features a more kid friendly focus to award show entertainment.

The show was taped Saturday in Santa Monica, California in front of an young and energetic audience, and to make sure the show went off without a hitch, both Newton and Kaepernick took a professional football approach to preparing for prime time.

When asked what they thought of the event both agreed that it was a great show and they both had a great time. “It was overall really fun from beginning to end,” said Kaepernick. After the event they were asked whether they would be willing to host the show again, and Newton answered with a definitive “Definitely!”, followed by Kaepernick’s “Oh, absolutely!”

With both Newton and Kaepernick being young stars in the league they felt it was important to be seen as positive and fun role models for the kids. Last year Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner and 2011 NFL Rookie of the Year, had another great year, quarterbacking the Carolina Panthers to the playoffs with a 12-4 regular season record. Kaepernick also continued to build his young NFL resume by leading the 49ers to a second straight berth in the NFC Championship game and coming up just one game short of a second straight appearance in the Super Bowl.
