Hiring Clinton PortisClinton Portis, University of Miami Graduate and Former Redskins Running Back, officially launched his website, www.ClintonPortis26.com. Best known for being the starting running back for the Washington Redskins, Portis first put his name on the map after he led the 2001 Miami Hurricanes to a National Championship. He finished that winning season with over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns on 220 carries (5.5 avg.).

His impressive season caught the attention of NFL scouts and in the 2002 NFL draft he was selected 51st by the Denver Broncos. Portis picked up where he left off at the University of Miami and rushed for over 1,500 yards in each of his first two seasons with the Broncos. Portis left his mark early in the NFL as he became the youngest player to score 4 touchdowns in a game. He later topped this record setting performance by becoming the young player to score 5 touchdowns in a game.

The next season in the NFL presented Portis with new challenges as he was traded to the Washington Redskins for cornerback Champ Bailey and a second-round draft pick. Many critics believed this would be the demise of his career as they believed the Broncos offensive line attributed to his success. The criticism only fueled Portis and in the following season he posted a 1000 yard rushing season. Despite his notable season, critics still spoke about how he only finished with eight total touchdowns. Those critics were in for a surprise as the following season Portis broke the Redskins’ franchise record for the most rushing yards in a season with 1,516 yards. He also went onto tie the most 100+ yard games in a season with 5.

After six remarkable years with the Washington Redskins, Portis decided to hang up the jersey and announce his retirement on August 21, 2012. He was 77 yards short of the 10,000 yards rushing mark, making him 27th all-time rusher.
