Miami Dolphins great Jason Taylor has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s TCPalm.com Player of the Year awards ceremony that’s happening in Fort Pierce, Florida on May 25th at 7 p.m. in the Sunrise Theater. Tickets to get into the event cost $8 per person and can be purchased online on the theater’s website. The awards ceremony will be honoring 25 different high school sports and two lucky student athletes from 18 schools will be announced the winners. It will be fantastic to have Taylor at the ceremony being as that he played football in the state of Florida for a very long time, and all of these students share common turf with him.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native got his athletic career started when he became a football player for his high school, Woodland Hills High School, which is where many NFL players began at. He ended up attending the University of Akron where he was a starting player for three years of his college career and acquired 279 tackles during his time there. He ended up taking part in the 1997 NFL Draft and was picked up by the Miami Dolphins with whom he stayed with for 10 years straight. Before retiring, he spent a little time with the New York Jets and Washington Redskins before leaving the field for good in 2011.
Taylor will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Best of PrepZone award event that’s happening later this month in Fort Pierce, Florida. The way things are set up, it’s bound to be a special day for the students, audience and Taylor alike.
