Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith delivered a very inspiring speech for the Sixth Annual News-Press All-Area Stars event at the Germain Arena. It was classified as one of his most heartfelt speeches that he has ever given in recent years and without doubt touched every member of the audience in a personal way. Smith discussed some of the challenges he faced over the years as a Running Back against some of the biggest competitors in the United States, and was sure to leave everyone who got to attend this event a little more confident than they were when they walked in.
The Florida native was born in the town of Pensacola and had earned a scholarship to attend the University of Florida where he played football from 1987 through 1989. In his first college game start, Smith went on to break the school’s 57 year old record for yards rushed in a single game. Smith entered the 1990 NFL draft where he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys as the 17th overall pick, and he stayed with the team until 2002. From 2003-2004 he played with the Arizona Cardinals before deciding to retire, but has still stayed active in the football world by participating in shows as a sports analyst and participating in other media activities.
Smith was the guest speaker for this year’s All-Area stars event and it was a huge success, as he was just about the most motivating person that could have possibly taken the stage. Everyone who was in attendance got to learn a little bit more about the former cowboy and take notes on his advice on how to advance in their futures with their own challenges.
