Alan Page Speaking FeePro Football Hall of Famer Alan Page has a special connection to the Boys and Girls Clubs. In 1971, Page met a woman named Diane who was a volunteer at Boys Club in Minneapolis while he was playing for the Vikings, and after visiting the Boys Club as a speaker he developed a relationship with Diane that was so strong that he asked her to marry him.

“I’m more than happy to say that she has been my bride for the last 41 years,” Page said Saturday night to an audience at the Ramkota Hotel, where he served as the Keynote Speaker at the Boys and Girls Club of Aberdeen Area’s annual awards banquet.

As an Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court since 1992, Page spoke about his time in law school and how it taught him how to be prepared in all situations. He also focused on the education of children and “what at times seems like a drastic decline in our character.” “Character is at the core of who we are,” he said. “People of character take responsibility for who they are and what they do.”

He ended his speech by reminding the crowd that “All of us have an opportunity and a responsibility to make the world a better place. You don’t have to be a Supreme Court justice or a football hero to make change happen. All of us have the power to change the future.”

Page spent 15 years in the NFL, including 11 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. During that time he helped lead the Vikings to four NFC Championships and earned nine Pro-Bowl selections to go along with six First Team All-Pro selections. In 1971 he was named the NFL MVP after being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1970. In 1988 he was honored as one of the greatest defensive tackles to ever play the game with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
