John LynchFormer Denver Broncos defensive back John Lynch recently traveled to Colorado to hold their 19th Annual Charity Luncheon on May 12. This has been a yearly function put on by the Lynch family in the Denver area for quite a long time, so it was nice that he came back to the state despite the fact that he has since left town and moved west to California. This year’s luncheon hosted more than 1,000 students from public schools in Denver districts and awarded more than $118,000 in awards and scholarships. Lynch also shared a few words on stage about how meaningful this event is to him and his wife, and talked a little bit about his career in the NFL.

The Hinsdale, Illinois native actually grew up in the San Diego, California area and went to high school at Torrey Pines High School where he began to get involved in playing football, baseball, and basketball. Lynch ended up attending Stanford University where he played both baseball and football for the school, and eventually, he was drafted in the 1993 NFL Draft in the third round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He stayed with the Bucs for 11 seasons before signing on with the Denver Broncos, who he played for from 2004 through 2007. After retiring as a player and a decade later, Lynch became the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers in January 2017.

Lynch recently traveled back to Denver, Colorado to continue his tradition of hosting the 19th Annual Charity Luncheon on May 12. It had a lot of attendees and a very positive response, which means lots of funds were raised for scholarships and awards.
