Bart Scott Speaking FeeFormer NFL linebacker Bart Scott spoke at the annual Parsippany High School Black History Month program that takes place at the every end of February. The event is hosted by the school’s African-American Culture Club where students got to learn about Blacks in many different types of career fields such as sports, entertainment, the military, and get information on some of their heritage countries such as Nigeria, Trinidad and Haiti. In addition to that, kids had an opportunity to Skype call with other students in Africa to question each other about student life in their respective countries.

Scott was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and went on to college to pursue a degree in economics and play football for Southern Illinois University. Once he discovered that he had a career in football he left school early when he was picked up by the Baltimore Ravens in 2002. The 2006 Pro-Bowl player stayed with the Ravens for six seasons before going to play for the New York Jets for three more, then retiring shortly after.

In 2005, Scott went back to school to finish his degree and currently works as a sports analyst for CBS sports. The Parsippany High African-American Club was extremely happy that he decided to come and talk to students during their Black History Month event, which he talked about his childhood in Detroit and gave them some motivational tips on setting goals for their future and staying on top of their academics.
