Former NFL player William Green traveled to Pueblo, Colorado at the beginning of the month on March 1st to motivate the youngers of the local Pueblo Boys and Girls Club. There were about 70 children present, who showed lots of enthusiasm towards Green as he shared stories about his life and made a very positive impression on them. He made sure to emphasize the point that these kids can do anything that they put their minds to, and after a fun and informative 20-minute speech by Green, he answered lots of different questions from the curious children. Green’s main message to the youth was to never let go of their dreams, no matter how hard someone tries to pull them away from them.
The Atlantic City, New Jersey native attended Holy Spirit High School in the town of Absecon which is where he first learned to play football and received multiple All-American honors. He ended up receiving an athletic scholarship to attend Boston College where he played on the Eagles’ roster from 1998 to 2001. In just his first two years, Green compiled over 2,700 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns. He entered the 2002 NFL Draft where he was selected in the first round and 16th overall by the Cleveland Browns, with whom he stayed with for his entire NFL career which lasted until 2005.
Green recently traveled to Pueblo, Colorado at the beginning of the month to talk to youngsters about following their dreams and aspirations. He shared some stories about his own life and talked about how many different things influence his own decisions, which was very motivating to the 70 kids there.
