Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch spoke at this year’s YMCA Light of the Valley Lunch that happened over the summer. The event took place on August 24th at 11:45 a.m. at the Wheeling Park White Palace in Wheeling, IL and brought in a huge turnout from fans coming to see the NFL Star and others who were looking to support and donate to the various YMCA programs. The hosts of the luncheon were extremely honored that he decided to attend and participate in this wonderful program and helped the rest of the town give him a huge welcoming to Wheeling.
Batch was picked up by the Detroit Lions as their starting quarterback in 1998 after the short notice retirement of Barry Sanders. In his career in the NFL he passed over 11,000 yards on the field before retiring from the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012, which is the team he got two Super Bowl rings with. He currently works in Pittsburgh for KDKA-TV which he has the role of a pre-game analyst for the Steelers. In addition to that, he also works with Champs Sports Network as a color analyst for high school football and basketball games that are aired on television.
The former quarterback traveled to Wheeling, IL this summer on August 24th to participate in the annual YMCA Light of the Valley Lunch event. It was a huge success and people were very gracious and generous with their giving to a wonderful cause.
