Former Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland is scheduled to be the keynote speaker for the 40th Annual Old Dominion Baseball Banquet that’s happening on January 13th of next year. The baseball coach for Old Dominion mentioned that they are all extremely excited that this MLB great has decided to participate, as he will no doubt bring a lot of good messages to the audience and team members who will be attending. Tickets to get into the event will be $65 per person, but if you are coming in a group of 20 or more the price is reduced to $45. Everything will kick off at 6 p.m., and then the dinner and presentations will take place just an hour later at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel.
The Perrysburg, Ohio native began his baseball career officially in 1963 when he was signed to play with the Tigers as a minor leaguer. However, he eventually found that a managerial role more suited his style and went on the path of being the manager for 27 years for teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockie and Detroit Tigers. Prior to this job he also worked as the coach for the Chicago White Sox between 1982 and 1985.
The 1997 World Series champion is set to be the main speaker at next year’s Old Dominion Baseball Banquet that will be occurring on January 13th at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel. Tickets to get in are just $65 so don’t forget to reserve your seats!
