Fox college football analyst Charles Davis was the guest speaker for the 27th annual Central Texas Kickoff Luncheon that started at 11:30 a.m. on August 19 at the Ferrell Center. It was such an honor to have Davis speak at this event, as it was also a special time for two local athletes who were awarded scholarships from The Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce. In addition to that, the Baylor coach Art Briles shared some of his thoughts about the 2015 bears and a local television station gave the audience a preview on a video of what this year’s high school football scene will be like. Another award was given out by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame to an individual who contributed a lot to the football program in the area.
The Tennessee native played multiple sports during his high school years, but really stood out in football when he played for the University of Tennessee in the Safety position. Davis was on the Preseason All-SEC team for two years in a row, and played exceptionally well during his time in college. He entered the 1987 Draft and was signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys but did not make the cut, so he took his passion for sports in another direction and became a sportscaster. In 2006 David joined Fox as an analyst which was one of the biggest leaps in his entire career.
