A Celebrity Booking Agency

Gary Player Speaking FeeGolf Hall of Famer Gary Player was the featured speaker at the Western Golf Association’s fifth annual Green Coat Gala that happened on October 16 at the Peninsula Chicago. The event was able to collect about $800,000 in funds to benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which is a program designed to help caddies receive scholarships for college tuition and campus housing. Player gave an enthusiastic speech and described how the game of golf is different for everyone, and he also discussed how important it is to have a good caddie and what a big role they play in the sport. He also talked about his own experiences with a caddie that he had for 17 years named Alfred Dyer who kept his spirits high while playing and was a great support system.

The Johannesburg native began golfing at the age of 14 after his father purchased him some clubs, and he discovered that he had a knack for the sport. By the age of 17, Player was already a professional golfer and in 1961 he won his first Masters Tournament. Player is regarded as one of the best golfers in history and was especially well known during the 1950s and 1970s. In the year 2000, Player was voted as the “Sportsman of the Century” in South Africa, and he has had at least 250 wins over the course of his career including 24 Champions Tour events.

Player spoke at this year’s annual Western Golf Association’s fifth Green Coat Gala earlier this month at the Peninsula Chicago, and the 80 year old was a big hit with the crowd.
