Steve Young agentHall of Fame quarterback Steve Young spoke at this year’s Annual Positive Coaching Alliance awards program on August 30th during the 2016 Jeans and Jerseys Youth Sports Awards at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, California. The event started at 7 p.m. and tribute was paid to the area’s developer Phil Oates and longtime high school Rocklin High School coach Roc Murray, and some of the topics covered during the talks included how positive impacts on youth in today’s world and allow them to perform well in all areas of their lives. Young discussed with the audience a lot about his time in the NFL and how some of his mentors had helped him get through some challenging times.

The Salt Lake City, Utah native was a star football player at his high school, which led him to attend and play for BYU and continue his path to stardom. He was selected as the first pick in the 1984 NFL Supplemental Draft of the USFL and CFL, and was signed with the Los Angeles Express where he stayed for one year before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Young didn’t stay long with the Bucs before getting traded to the San Francisco 49ers with whom he played with for 12 years before retiring in 1999. Over his career, Young achieved several records including Most Rushing Touchdowns by a Quarterback, Most Touchdown passes in a Super Bowl, and Best Completion Percentage.

Young spoke last month at the Annual Positive Coaching Alliance program to recognize local coaches who are changing their community in a fantastic way, and to discuss how positive interaction can benefit young athletes from an early age in many departments of their lives.
