During his talk, he spoke for half an hour in the Carl Lewis Auditorium about how hard it is to be an athlete and what it takes to be a champion. Bettis mentioned that he hopes to inspire current and future athletes into being their very best, and gave a lot of important tips that would be able to help them out in the next few months to come.

The Super Bowl XL champion has achieved many awards during his football playing years such as the 2001 Walter Payton Man of the Year, 1993 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and he is a part of the 10,000 rushing yard club too. Since his retirement Bettis has taken on many other jobs such as hosting his own show called The Jerome Bettis Show which is filmed at Heinz Field, opening a restaurant in Pittsburgh called “Jerome Bettis Grill 36, and having annual fundraising sports camps to raise money for children with asthma. In addition to that, he also spent some time as a sports analyst for NBC sports and certain ESPN programs.

Jerome Bettis recently appeared at this year’s Champion’s Night that took place at the University of Houston in mid-August. It was an evening of great discussion and inspiration, and hopefully the audience found themselves some more motivation as a result of the event.
