Hall of Famer Johnny Bench has been announced as the keynote speaker for the International BoatBuilder’s Exhibition & Conference Breakfast that is happening this September 15 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. The event will go from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and include a meal for everyone who attends, and all attendees are expected to be motivated by Bench through his inspiring words and stories. Keep in mind that if you plan on attending the IBEX breakfast you will likely have to purchase your tickets in advance as the industry breakfast always tends to sell out.
The Oklahoma City native was the 36th overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1965 amateur draft, but played for a couple of years by the Buffalo Bison before the Reds asked him to come play for them in 1967. The 14-time All-Star player is also a 10-time winner of the Gold Glove Award for each year in 1968-1977. Bench also won two World Series championships and was named the 1968 Rookie of the Year. As soon as 1989 came around, Bench was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York which was a pretty big deal since he was initiated in during his first year that he was eligible. And if anyone had any doubt as to how much the Reds appreciated everything Bench has done for them, all they would have to do is take one look at the large bronze statue of the catcher that now sits at the Great American Ball Park as of 2011.
The 1976 World Series MVP is going to be speaking at a very likely sold-out breakfast this fall at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, and he will be a great contribution to this year’s International BoatBuilder’s Exhibition & Conference.
