Houston Rockets James Harden was back in Arizona at the end of August to host a two day basketball camp for local children in the Phoenix area. The camp took place between August 22-23 and enrolled 250 young athletes in the grades first through twelfth and was the first of its kind in Arizona, but Harden is hoping to continue it for years to come. At James Harden Basketball ProCamp the kids got to practice essential basketball skills, socialize, and have some fun getting exercise as a one of their last summer activities before school schedules get too hectic. The former Arizona State University student was drawn back to the area this summer to give back to a community that he feels really helped him become the athlete and man he is today.
The Los Angeles native earned the title of an All-American player excelled at basketball when he played for Arizona State University from 2007-2009, and he was selected as the 3rd overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA Draft. He stayed with the team until 2012 when he signed a four-year contract with the Rockets, and is still with them today. The three-time NBA All-Star also competed with Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 Spain World Cup where the managed to bring back two gold medals from.
Harden returned to his old college stomping grounds this August to host a youth basketball camp for the local kids, and it was a huge success. He hopes to continue to bring James Harden Basketball ProCamp desert after this inaugural year.
