Curtis GrandersonNew York Mets Curtis Granderson held a Youth Baseball camp for about 200 kids on November 21 at the University of Illinois-Chicago. It was a great turnout and all of the kids who attended go to take a picture with Granderson and went home with a t-shirt as a souvenir. The baseball player had an opportunity to interact with a lot of the kids and talk to them about how dedication to their goals is one of the best ways to be successful in life. In addition to that, the young athletes got a chance to practice some of their basic baseball skills. During the camp, Granderson also told the group about what it was like to beat their local baseball team, the Chicago Cubs, in the World Series tournament this year.

The Blue Island, Illinois native was a clear baseball star since his high school years, and by the time his graduation came around he was being recruited by a number of colleges to play for them. Granderson ended up choosing the University of Illinois-Chicago, staying in his home state. He entered the 2002 MLB Draft and was selected by the Detroit Tigers, with whom he stayed with for just two years before going to play for the New York Yankees. In 2014, Granderson was offered a contact with the New York Mets and has been on the team ever since.

Granderson held a youth baseball camp at his old stomping grounds at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and the 200 kids who attended learned a lot and had a fantastic time.
