The most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps has been announced as this year’s “Voices of Inspiration” fundraising event that is organized by Hoffman Hospice. The function will take place in Bakersfield, California and is sure to draw in lots of guests to see this world renowned swimming star. Phelps will likely discuss some of the hardships in his life and how they attributed to his great success in his career as an athlete. He will also talk about some of what the Hoffman Hospice organization provides for patients and their families in need, as all of the proceeds will benefit their cause.
The Baltimore, Maryland native began participating in swimming when he was just seven years old and his parents concluded that he needed an activity to use up all of his high energy. By the time he was 15, he joined the United States Olympic team’s roster, and was the youngest person to do so in almost 70 years. Before even getting to the biggest athletic competition in the world, the Olympics, Phelps won several gold medals at World Championship games which was a fantastic avenue to set him up for the 28 medals that he would eventually win over the next 12 years and four summer Olympic games.
Phelps will be speaking at this year’s Voices of Inspiration fundraiser to raise money for the Hoffman Hospice in Bakersfield, California. Given that he is such an influential person in the sports industry, there is no doubt that the turnout this year will be fantastic.
