NBA Analyst and former player Kenny Smith is going to host a basketball camp later this summer from June 26 to June 30 in Sparta, New Jersey. During this camp, each participant will be able to play games, enter contests, and rotate different basketball stations so that everyone has a chance to interact with professional athletes, high school and college coaches, community leaders and top AAU players. Joseph Dawkins, a coach at The House of Sports in Sparta and Smith’s own nephew, remarked that the retired NBA player’s camp is one of the best in the country due to the amazing experience he creates for the kids. In addition to that, Smith loves to share his wealth of knowledge for the game of basketball with the youngers and truly cares about his impact on them during the few short days of the camp.
Smith was born in Queens, New York and played college basketball for North Carolina before joining the NBA in 1987 when he was drafted to the Sacramento Kings. He played for a number of franchises including the Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets before retiring in 1997 and joining Turner Sports broadcasting in 1998.
The former athlete and current broadcaster will be in New Jersey later on this summer to host a basketball camp at the end of June. The four-day clinic is said to be one of the best in the country, and kids from all over the town of Sparta are looking forward to attending and working with Smith himself.
