Magic Johnson Charity KeynoteDuring Magic Johnson’s career in the NBA he became a legend. Each and every time he took the floor he amazed us all with his show stopping passes, shots, and crossover dribbles. He won championships, lit up all-star games, and brought a new flashy, yet fundamental style to the NBA that would change the league forever.

Since he left the game he’s brought those same game changing qualities to the television screen and business world by becoming one of the most popular sports personalities on TV and by far one of the most successful business leaders in the world.

What is unique about Johnson is that he does not keep the reasons for his success a secret. He shares them with the public so that one day they will have the chance to join him at the top. On Thursday, October 23 that was his mission, and he delivered yet again. As he stood in front of an audience of over 700 students at the STARS Scholarship Fund fundraiser in El Paso, Texas his message was simple, anyone given the chance to be successful can do so when they capitalize on that opportunity.

Last year’s fundraiser raised over $140,000 in El Paso and $2.5 million throughout the state. Their goal was to top those numbers this year, and they have a very good chance to do that with Johnson on their side. The money raised in El Paso this year will help give scholarships to more than 200 local students so that they can have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and take advantage of their own opportunities to be successful.
