David Thompson SpeakerMany basketball players go through their career and are labeled as talented, but few are regarded to be as talented as Michael Jordan, Ralph Sampson, Tim Duncan, Christian Laettner, and Len Bias. For David Thompson, a 4-time NBA All-Star, is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the Atlantic Coast Conference along with those amazing basketball players.

Thompson was idolized for his amazing leaping ability, but he is forever remembered for leading  North Carolina State University to an undefeated season (27-0) in 1973 and leading them to the Basketball Championship in 1974 and defeating the UCLA Bruins. After his impressive college career, this all-american was drafted No. 1 in the NBA draft where he played for the Denver Nuggets. He carried over all those impressive abilities into the NBA and began a highly regarded All-Star. After many years in the NBA, Thompson retired and shortly after the NBA recognized his contribution by enshrining him into Basketball Hall of Fame on May 6, 1996.

Since his retirement, the Former NC State All-American and Four-Time NBA All-Star has been traveling the country and sharing his incredible story as an NBA player. His most recent trip landed him in North Carolina for the the annual Northeast North Carolina Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Banquet as he was named the keynote speaker.

Attendees got to hear David Thompson speak about the obstacles of being a professional basketball player and the choices that he made after retiring from the game.
