Former Olympic champion Shannon Miller has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2017 She Rocks luncheon that is happening on September 12 at the Wilmington Convention Center. This will be the 4th Annual event of its kind, and she is expected to share her story of cancer survival as well as discuss her driven business skills. The She Rocks organization was able to raise nearly $200,000 at last year’s event, and the people who are running it is hoping to be just as successful this time around. The funds raised at the luncheon will directly benefit various support initiatives for patients undergoing chemotherapy, such as monthly gas cards or wigs. To purchase tickets, visit their website at she-rocks.org.
Miller was only a young teen when she began to compete in gymnastics internationally, as she and her mother went to Russia in 1989 specifically for a camp to showcase up and coming talent in the sport. The 1995 Pan gold medalist won her first World Championship in 1991 at the young age of 14, and that is when her name really started to take off from there. Miller’s first Olympic appearance was in the 1992 Barcelona games, but she only managed to achieve a silver medal at best which gave her the drive to get the gold four years later.
Falconetti will be traveling to the Wilmington Convention Center this fall to participate in the 2017 She Rocks luncheon that is being held to raise money to benefit cancer patients. It should be an inspiring experience, so be sure to mark it on your calendar.
