Olympian Shawn Johnson recently traveled to Stewart Theater in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 25th to speak to the Wolfpack about the keys to success.The gold medalist spoke to a large crowd about how determination and drive are what really earned her her place in the games, because she went out onto the mats to display to the judges that she had truly deserved to be there. In addition to relaying that passion is the most important part of our motivation, Johnson also got into some of her experience in the entertainment industry, as she participated in both “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Apprentice”.
The Des Moines, Iowa native attending Valley High School while practicing gymnastics for several hours per week. She became a part of Team USA’s Olympic gymnastics team and competed in the 2008 Beijing games where she won a gold medal on the balance beam and three silver medals in other gymnastic events. In June of 2012, Johnson was facing some knee problems and ended her comeback for the 2012 Olympic Team.
