Shannon Miller Agenteven-time Olympic medalist and nine-time World Champion medalist Shannon Miller is releasing a memoir about her days as a competitive professional gymnast and brings readers back to her glory days of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. In her writing, she describes what it was like to be the leader of the “Magnificent Seven”, the first U.S. Women’s gymnastic team to win the gold. In addition to that, she gets into what her life has been like since retiring from the sport as she has gotten married, had children, and even combated and beat a rare type of ovarian cancer.

Miller was only a young teen when she began to compete in gymnastics internationally, as she and her mother went to Russia in 1989 specifically for a camp to showcase up and coming talent in the sport. The 1995 Pan gold medalist won her first World Championship in 1991 at the young age of 14, and that is when her name really started to take off from there. Miller’s first Olympic appearance was in the 1992 Barcelona games, but she only managed to achieve a silver medal at best which gave her the drive to get the gold four years later.

The new memoir that Miller is publishing and releasing on Tuesday, April 28, will be a great way for old time fans to remember hers and the Magnificent Seven’s run on the mats almost 20 years ago. The piece describes what the gymnast has gone through these past few years and how she used her athletic training to get her through chemotherapy and become cancer-free.
