Orlando Magic Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton got to switch jobs for a day as the Magic teamed up with Southwest Airlines to get a chance to experience working in each other’s shoes on November 19. Among some of the Magic staff and their mascot, Stuff, the players got to scan tickets and greet passengers as they arrived in Austin, Texas after a flight from Albany, New York. Many of the people traveling that day got to interact with some of the professional players, and everyone involved had a great time. In addition to the basketball players working for Southwest, some of the Southwest staff got to go to work for the Orlando Magic and see how business is run on their end.
Gordon was a supreme basketball player even from as early as his high school years, and after graduation he committed to playing for the University of Arizona Wildcats. After just a year in Tucson, Gordon declared for the 2014 NBA Draft and was selected by the Orlando Magic where he still plays today. Payton was also a high school basketball star and took his talents to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where he was on the team from 2011-2014. He also entered the 2014 NBA Draft and was picked by the Orlando Magic in first round as the 10th overall pick.
Both Gordon and Payton had a exciting day on November 19 as they got to participate in a work exchange with some staff members from Southwest Airlines. They got to work with passengers and greet travelers, and likely recruited a few new Magic fans.
