Former NBA player Ruthie Bolton is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the 34th Annual Top Ten Professional Women and Leading Business Awards that are happening this fall. The event will take place on October 13 at the Fresno Convention Center and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and information regarding purchasing tickets can be found on the MM Center’s website. Bolton is expected to talk about her life and career in the WNBA, as well as how she overcame living in an environment of domestic violence. It is expected to be one of the most moving happenings of the year to come to the Fresno area, so if you are a local be sure to look into getting your tickets as soon as possible.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist played for Auburn University between 1985 and 1989 in the Guard position and quickly formed a great reputation. She entered the 1997 WNBA Draft and was picked up by the Sacramento Monarchs with whom she played with until 2004. In addition to that, in 1991 Bolton was called to represent her country as a part of Team USA at the World University Games in England that year. The Mississippi native has won several medals including one at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, 2000 Sydney Olympics, World University Games and the FIBA World Championship for Women tournament. These days even though she has retired from playing basketball, she still works for the Monarchs and does administrative duties for the team.
