San Antonio Spurs Boris Diaw is spending his offseason time doing something special for children in Africa this week, as he is down in Senegal hosting a basketball clinic on behalf of the Basketball Without Border program. Diaw has been participating in this program since 2005 and really enjoys teaching the children how to improve their basketball skills and strive for success in their futures. He was joined this year by several fellow NBA players to participate in an inaugural exhibition game this month down in Johannesburg. In any case it is great to see these players not only reach out to help others, but also to promote basketball in some regions where it might not be as common.
The 2014 NBA Champion got his start in basketball when he played for the French team Pau-Orthez from the years 2001-2003. He entered the 2003 NBA Draft and was picked up by the Atlanta Hawks with whom he played with for two seasons before going to the Phoenix Suns for three more. After leaving Arizona, Diaw played for the Charlotte Bobcats until 2012 when he signed with the Spurs where he still plays today. The 2003 French League French Player’s MVP award winner has only gotten better with experience and will likely be keeping his fans happy for years to come.
Diaw is currently down in Africa this summer helping to run a basketball clinic in his father’s native country of Senegal. He also played in the first ever 2015 NBA Africa exhibition game along with many of his peers in the pros.
