Seattle Seahawks legend Steve Largent has been announced as the featured speaker for this summer’s first All-World Awards banquet that is happening in the Tulsa area. The event takes place on July 8th and will honor the top high school athletes for the year who live locally. This time, the Jenks football coach Allan Trimble will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Cheyenne Waldon of Sand Springs and Malcolm Rodriguez of Wagoner will be named athletes of the year. Largent is also expected to share some of the highlights of his 13 season NFL career as well as other things that he is working on in his life.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native started playing football at a young age and ended up continuing his athletic activity at the University of Tulsa after completion of high school. He entered the 1976 NFL Draft where he was selected in the fourth round as the 117th overall pick by the Houston Oilers, but after a few preseason games, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for whom he plays with for the rest of his 13-year career. The seven-time Pro Bowl champion is the first recipient of the Steve Largent Award, which was created in his name to honor spirit, dedication, and integrity among players in the NFL. After retiring from the playing field, Largent worked in both politics and also became President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association.
Largent will be in Tulsa this July to celebrate with this year’s awards winners from the local area. It is going to be very memorable for everyone who is in the audience, but especially for the honored receivers.
