Legendary coach Steve Spurrier has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s 76th annual Hannibal-LaGrange University Booster Banquet that is happening on November 16th at 7 p.m. Tickets to get into the event will cost $75 for general admission, $200 for executive admission, or $1,500 for a roundtable of eight seats. Spurrier is going to be talking about his life both on and off the football field, as well as sharing some of the highlights of his coaching career as well. He will be also touching on the topic of how to stay positive during difficult times, and given that he is known for having a sense of humor, one could expect some light-hearted conversation as well.
The Miami Beach, Florida native was always a star athlete beginning from a young age, and even though it seemed that baseball might be his sport, he quickly was noticed for his football skills by the time he got to college. After attending the University of Florida, Spurrier entered the 1967 NFL Draft where he was selected in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers, with whom he played for between 1967 and 1975. In 1976 he did a brief year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring as a player and then going back to his university to work as the quarterback coach. By the time of his retirement in 2015, Spurrier had coached for eight college and professional teams, including the Washington Redskins and more recently, the University of South Carolina.
Spurrier will be speaking later this month on November 16 for the 76th annual Hannibal-LaGrange University Booster Banquet that’s starting at 7 p.m. Ticket prices begin at $75 and are expected to sell quickly, so if you are local and want to attend this event it’s best to buy them as soon as possible.
