NFL legend Tim Brown was the keynote speaker for this year’s annual “Fruit of the Spirit” Awards Banquet in Texas on Saturday, September 16th. In addition to his speech, Brown took the time to do some book signings for his fans and showcase his new book titled “The Making of a Man: How Men and Boys Honor God and Live With Integrity”. During his time on stage, Brown expressed how glad he is that he was able to be raised in a Christian home and had several religious mentors during his upbringing. Having these people in his life allowed him to stay on track for his own life and nourish his personal interest in Christianity. It was a very memorable talk that Brown gave at the banquet, and it was also a good opportunity to learn about his new written work.
The Dallas, Texas native didn’t even get a start playing football until his sophomore year of high school, which he had to do secretly as his mother did not want him on the team. She eventually figured it out that Brown was playing football which the marching band called his home to ask why he had so many absences, but he did end up getting to stay with the sport. By the time he was ready to graduate from high school he received numerous offers for sports scholarships but decided to commit to Notre Dame. Brown entered the 1988 NFL Draft as the 6th overall pick by the then, Los Angeles Raiders. He stayed with the Raiders franchise for 15 years before briefly joining Tampa Bay’s roster prior to retiring. Since leaving his playing career behind, Brown has been a college football analyst for ESPN and the general manager and co-owner of the Texas Revolution in the Indoor Football League.
Brown recently was the keynote speaker for this year’s annual “Fruit of the Spirit” Awards Banquet that occurred earlier this month. It was a great time for everyone who got to attend, and many motivational lessons were learned.
