Training Camps are a time for NFL teams to get together and work on their new offensive and defensive schemes. Many teams also take this time to build team unity which has proven to be critical on some levels as teams have reflected and remembered just how those team building exercises helped them become closer.

For the Detroit Lions came with some entertainment as Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo paid a visit with his 12-year-old son, Steven. Izzo made a b-line,  in his fully decked out Michigan State gear, to offices of Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. The two grizzled coaches have no connection, other than their affinity for growls, scowls and, well, maybe Izzo said it best.

“He’s crazy, and I’m crazy,” Izzo said, “so we’re a good pair together.

“But I have great respect for a lot of these guys, and he’s one that I always kind of respected and liked and loved the passion he coached with, so we gravitated toward each other, maybe.”

Izzo was happy to speak to the media and players as he expressed how football has played a part of in his career. Tom Izzo has been known to dazzle fans with his captivating style behind the podium. His presence and leadership has made him a highly sought Keynote Speaker.
