Amy Purdy AgentActress and world-class snowboarder Amy Purdy has been announced as the keynote speaker for Imaging USA 2016 that is taking place from January 10-13 at the Georgia World Congree Center in Atlanta, Georgia. At this even more than 10,000 photography industry professionals will gather to get inspired and network with other people who do similar things in their careers. There will be 600 booths with over 1,000 images being showcased as well as over 100 different speeches happening for photographers to attend. It is going to be the event of the year for anyone who is a photographer or wishes to be one, as there will be plenty of information to go around and learn from.

The Las Vegas native contracted Neisseria meningitis at the age of 19 which ended up damaging her circulatory system and required her to be amputated from below the knee, as well as losing both of her kidneys. She beat the 2% chance of survival that the doctors gave her and received prosthetic legs just a couple years later. Only seven months after being introduced to her new legs, Purdy started snowboarding and competing in the sport around the United States. She went on to found her own non-profit organization called Adaptive Action Sports which was created for people who have physical disabilities and want to participate in a sport. In 2014 Purdy competed in the Paralympic Games in Sochi and brought home the bronze medal, as was named one of ESPNW’s Impact 25 that same year.

Purdy will be one of the main speakers at next year’s DWTS even happening in January at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, and this will be a fantastic opportunity for photographers near and far to attend as it will especially cater to individuals in that profession.
