Amy Alcott Biography
Born on February 22, 1956, Amy Alcott is an American professional golfer. She was a member of the LPGA Tour in the year 1975. She won five major championships and 29 LPGA Tour events in all.
She won the U.S. Girls' Junior in 1973 and in 1975 she was ready to turn pro. Her first victory came in just her third start, at the Orange Blossom Classic. She went on to be named LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year. She won three times in four tournaments in 1979, 1980 and 1984 respectively. She also won the LPGA Vare Trophy in the year 1980. Her very first major victory was during the 1979 Peter Jackson Classic which is now known as the du Maurier Classic. She went on to win the U.S. Women's Open in 1980 and the Nabisco Dinah Shore in three times which is actually her final victory on the LPGA Tour, in 1983, 1988, and 1991. This was the 29th win in her career. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. She hosted the Office Depot Championship from the year 2001 up to 2004 which became a part of the LPGA Tour. After her career touring, she began getting into course design and later she became a host of a satellite radio program. She also instructional book and taped a video. She is also a member of the National Jewish Museum Sports Hall of Fame. In 2007, she was working as a girls' golf coach at Harvard-Westlake School in North Hollywood, California.
