Jim Thome was born August 27, 1970 in Peoria, Illinois andis a Major League Baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is theeighth MLB player to hit 600 home runs.
Through 2011, Thome was second among all active major leaguers in home runs(604; behind Alex Rodriguez) and RBIs (1,674; once again behind Rodriguez), andfifth in career slugging percentage (.556; behind Albert Pujols, AlexRodriguez, Ryan Braun, and Ryan Howard).

On July 17, 2011, Thome hit the longest home run in Target Field for his 596th.The ball went high into the right-center-field upper deck at an estimateddistance of 490 feet.
